Wood You Look At That...

At Mitchells Dairy, we are always keen to try our hands at new things, but sometimes our hidden talents even surprise us!

After an elm tree blew down in Judy's dad Patrick's garden, Keith and his three sons decided to use their imagination - and started sanding and oiling the elmwood to turn it into hardwood boards!

Only after they tidied the garden, of course.

As you may or may not know, natural wood prevents bacterial growth, making these boards ideal for use in a kitchen environment as a general chopping board.

Due to their beauty though, they also find a place on the table as cheese boards, cake platters, carving boards and bread boards.

Whatever you decide to use them as, they really do make a lovely gift - and they are selling really well in the shop in the lead up to Christmas.

You never know, if the boys keep improving, we just might start making bespoke wooden boards to customers' own design and measurements!

Below, you can see Hamish Whyte, Judy and Keith's eldest son (and part of the 5th generations of the Mitchell family) busy in his workshop making the boards. On the right, you can see our handmade hardwood boards on sale at our shop in Inverurie.

If you want to purchase one of our hardwood boards, you can simply call into our shop in Market Place, Inverurie.
